The A-O Fire Department has received certification from the North Carolina Association of Rescue and Emergency Medical Services Inc. as a Medium Rescue Provider.

     The A-O Fire Department has met the standards set forth by the NC Association of Rescue and EMS for Medium Rescue in October 2008. The A-O Fire Department was the first agency in Alamance county to be certified under the new standards in 2005, and was certified Light rescue. In mid 2008 it was voted on by the membership to go ahead with obtaining the equipment to meet the medium rescue certification and after the sale of old Utility 25 part of the proceeds went to buy the equipment needed. The A-O Fire Department plans to obtain Heavy Rescue certification in the near future.
